Digital Janitor

A couple of days ago, when I was cleaning the folder where I generally download various files from the Internet (documents, pictures, music, etc), I started wandering if there is a way to sort all those files, except by sorting them out manually by copying them into their proper folder. I BTTR
mean, for example if I've just downloaded an mp3, then it should go in a folder labeled, "Music", right? Well, while searching for something that could actually accomplish that, I came across a program called Digital Janitor.

Digital Janitor was developed to do exactly this - to sort various files by extension and move them to specified folders. Of course it isn’t going to have the pre-programmed rules so there is a fully customizable system where you can specify any extension to be moved to any folder. What I find really great is the fact that you can set rules that will sort the files by specific keyword or size.

To make a rule, specify the folder that you want to sort (for instance, your Downloads folder), choose the file type (for example, "mp3"), then browse and select the directory to which you want to move the files of the selected type. After that, all you'll have to do is to add the rule by clicking the “Add rule” button and then just hit the "Sort" button. The program will start now moving all the specified file types to your desired destination folder. You can specify as many rules as you want.
